US CUSTOMERS
Due to confusion and administrative incompetence on the part of US Customs and Border Protection and FedEx, I have no choice but to charge 15% tax on the items included in every order as of February 2, 2026. The cost of shipping is not taxed. Technically, laserdiscs are supposed to fall into the category of "Informational Materials" and be exempt from the tariffs. However, despite the law, tariffs are often mistakenly levied, and the shipper (GoodSquid) is the one who pays them. The recipient will not be on the hook for any tariffs or fees when the parcel is delivered in the US.
I am currently in the process of trying to find an efficient and effective way of disputing these mistakenly levied tariffs, but FedEx is saying that it could take 90-180 days for a resolution of a single case. Until then, I have no idea whether I'll be refunded or not. If FedEx and CBP agree that the tariffs were improperly levied, I will stop collecting the tax at checkout.
EU CUSTOMERS
Applicable VAT taxes and duties will be calculated and charged at checkout on orders where the total of goods is under €150. As required by EU tax code, the tax is also charged on the cost of shipping. The recipient will not have to pay any additional fees when the order arrives!
If over €150, the VAT/customs fees will be collected from the recipient at the time of delivery.
* There is talk of the €150 threshold gradually being eliminated over the next couple years. GoodSquid will be in compliance with these changes as they are made.
